It looks like one of the most powerful and richest men in the world is in real trouble. It is hard to believe, but The House Judiciary Committee called the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos for giving evidence before Congress regarding accusations in crowding small businesses, unfavorable conditions, and mistreatment of workers in Amazon warehouses, as well as full monopolization in the e-commerce world.

Others such as Tim Cook, Mark Zuckerberg, and the head of Google, Sundar Pichai, have not escaped the fate of answering Congress’s questions under oath concerning privacy issues and circulating misinformation.

During several months, The Judiciary Committee has been keeping in view the power of not only Amazon but also Facebook, Apple, and Google. These companies were asked to provide some internal documents along with emails between top executives. The letter, written to Jeff Bezos, stated that the pandemic situation does not affect the course of the investigation.

The Democratic chairman of the committee from New York, Jerrold Nadler, has promised to put extra effort into calling Jeff Bezos to give the statement on his own. There haven’t been any official comments from Amazon yet.

As for Mr. Bezos, he has come to rely on his deputy, ex-White House press secretary Jay Carney, in dealing with those in charge of creating policies.

Moreover, current US President Donald Trump has always criticized Jeff Bezos, by smearing Amazon whenever he criticizes the Washington Post.

Back in fall, Pentagon rewarded nearly $10 billion and signed a contract with Amazon’s main rival, Microsoft.

As a result, Amazon took things to court, stating that Trump’s issues with Amazon were definitely a culprit in this. According to some insiders, Amazon is in an uphill battle now, and there were several attempts when lawmakers tried to call Mr. Bezos to Capitol Hill; however, Amazon is unwavering in its refusal to collaborate.

It seems like black clouds are hovering over Amazon. Some Liberals, including Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, have not stayed away and criticized Amazon’s power and wealth just as Trump did. Nobody knows when Jeff Bezos will appear since COVID-19 has forced Congress to act in emergency measures.

It can be said that the power of Amazon is increasing day by day, even along with the pandemic situation, since most of the sellers prefer to purchase via Amazon, ordering the most essential products. In view of this situation, Jeff Bezos tries to ensure Amazon’s high-quality operation, without leaving his Texas ranch.

It needs to be said that he is good at it, since according to Amazon reports, compared with last year, Amazon sales increased by 26%. However, it also leads to harsh words since according to some politicians, Amazon has not ensured proper safety for its staff. In his turn, Mr. Bezos announced that his company planned to spend nearly $4 on the war on COVID-19.
